Fast
The Overland REO 4500 & 4500c disk-based backup and recovery
appliance adds speed, reliability, and flexibility to any
data protection environment. The REO 4500 features innovative
Protection OS™ software that delivers volume and device
virtualization, management, and connectivity capabilities.
It also allows the REO to be easily enhanced via current and
future software PAC options (e.g. Overland REO™ Multi-SitePAC™).
Flexible
It’s easy to configure the REO 4500 as virtual tape
libraries and/or any mix of standalone virtual tape drives
or disk volumes (LUNs) for maximum flexibility. Patent-pending
Dynamic Virtual Tape (DVT) ensures that no storage capacity
is wasted while eliminating the manual effort and guesswork
of sizing, configuring, provisioning, and deleting virtual
tape cartridges. With DVT, users can create virtual tape cartridges
that automatically expand or shrink as needed to match the
exact capacity requirements of the backup operation.
Expandable
The REO 4500 offers tremendous flexibility in capacity, ranging
anywhere between 3TB and 27TB. Expansion is facilitated by
adding economical SAS connected expansion arrays in 3TB, 6TB
and 9TB configurations. Hardware compression effectively without
affecting performance useable virtual tape capacity, giving
the REO 4500c a total compressed capacity of 45 TB.
Simple
The REO 4500 is also easy to deploy and manage. It's compatible
with all popular open systems or Windows-based backup software,
physical tape drives, and libraries, and it connects easily
to Ethernet (iSCSI) or Fibre Channel networks. A simple browser-based
interface, proactive monitoring, and remote management capabilities
combine to make REO 4500 easy and cost effective to manage.
