Whether you use 3480/3490 18-track for interchange (3480 hold 200 MB and 3490 holds 600 MB), or 3490E 36-track for high-performance back-up (3490E hold up to 2.4GB), the compact, versatile T490E is ideal for PC's or workstations in office environments.

For the first time, one drive reads and writes all three industry-standard half-inch cartridge formats: IBM 18-track 3480/3490, and IBM 36-track 3490E. The L490E reads and writes both native and compressed modes, featuring IBM IDRC-compatible data compression.

For the ultimate in mid-range and mainframe data interchange the M490E provides a fast, reliable way to access 3480, 3490 and 3490E cartridges. Not much larger than a shoe box, it has fully pressurized air bearings and recording head for precise tape guidance and virtually no tape wear.

With the advent of the M490L Autolibrary, you can now have easy, automatic access to 15 standard 1/2 inch data cartridges, providing all the benefits of true mainframe-class backup and hierarchical data storage management
(HSM) at entry-level prices and in desktop space.

The MP-8436 36-track tape drive reads and writes tape formats compatible with the IBM 3480 and 3490E. Table top or rack mount. Directly attaches to IBM AS/400 and RS/6000, open systems, PC, Workstations or networks. Low power dissipation.	The MP-8418 reads and writes tape formats compatible with the IBM 3480 and 3490. All drives are capable of reading and writing very large tape records (up to 3.8 MB). Table top or rack mount.
