Built from the ground
up based on real customer needs, the Pillar Axiom 500 has the industry's
lowest TCO both at acquisition and after more than three years.
Support for Fibre Channel
Pillar has extended the configuration options of the Axiom system,
making it more ideally suited for high performance, highly available
storage infrastructures. Pillar’s new enterprise configuration
includes:
- Double the raw capacity: more than 380 TB in a single system
- Fibre Channel (FC) drive support, providing a new “premium”
level of performance
- Higher reliability makes the new FC Brick storage enclosure
ideally suited for mission critical applications
- SMI-S support
- Most flexible array on the market today
Improved AxiomONE software
- Over 100% improvement in NAS performance
- Non-disruptive code upgrades providing even higher availability
- Faster NDMP backup and user interface
- Fibre Channel SAN support
- Transparent QoS change; change a LUN or a file from one QoS
level to another without disruption
- Greater data integrity and compliance-ready architecture with
Pillar’s AxiomONE SecureWORMfs
Simpler storage consolidation
In the past, storage buyers had to choose between the performance
of SAN storage systems and the cost-effectiveness of NAS. Pillar eliminates
this tradeoff.
The Pillar Axiom is designed to seamlessly accommodate both SAN and
NAS, giving both complete access to a shared storage pool. With Pillar's
modular system, you can...
- Deploy a NAS-only system
- Deploy a SAN-only system
- Combine native SAN and NAS on one platform
Multiple Tiers, One Platform
In the Pillar Axiom system, all tiers of data can reside on a single
platform, with a single management interface, under a single software
license. Premium — highest performance
and availability (available when using Fibre Channel drives) Tier
1 — high performance and availability levels for
mission-critical applications
Tier 2 — increased performance and high
availability for mid-performance applications
Tier 3 — adequate performance and availability
to support business-utility applications such as file sharing
Archive — cost-effective archive with compliance
option
Tiered Storage at the Disk Level
Storage is configured with premium*, high, medium, low, and archive
priorities, automatically applying resources in the system to fit
individual application needs and maximize asset utilization. Data
is laid out by its performance priority. High-priority data is written
to a narrow band on the outermost tracks for increased performance
and optimized seek times, while data with lower performance requirements
is laid out on the inner tracks.
* Premium level available when using Fibre
Channel drives
Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability
Pillar Axiom systems are designed from the ground up for around-the-clock
data access and easy repair, while industry-standard components
reduce replacement costs.
- All components have duplicate, active backups to eliminate any
single point of potential hardware failure, with automatic failover
and recovery
- All components are hot-swappable, allowing on-the-fly replacement
- Battery-backed RAM ensures data integrity in the event of a
power failure
Configurable as Virtual Tape Library (VTL)
When storage administrators decide to integrate disks into their backup
operation, they frequently want to minimize the impact to their existing
backup infrastructure. VTL technology allows end users to benefit
from the faster backups and restores which disk technology enables
without requiring changes to the processes they have in place.
Pillar has partnered with leading VTL vendor, FalconStor Software,
to make the Axiom configurable as a VTL. When combined with the
affordability, scalability, performance, ease-of-use, and multi-hosting
benefits of the Axiom, the Pillar/FalconStor VTL provides a compelling
solution for end users.
