Overview
Your remote office data is just as critical as your data center. Whether
for remote data protection, availability or disaster recovery, CDR
software provides unmatched data management and availability for your
data-driven enterprise.CDR software lets you replicate both user and
key application data continuously to address the stringent availability
requirements driven by business critical applications. As part of the
QiNetix Unified Data Management suite, CDR is fully integrated with
Galaxy backup and snapshot management to provide a comprehensive data
protection solution for your remote office applications.
Delivers Unified Data Management and Administration
Your replication strategy should compliment and integrate with your
data protection strategy—not be yet another point product that you
have to integrate into the mix. QiNetix ContinuousDataReplicator
offers a simple, unified interface that lets you easily create,
track, administer and manage the replication, backup and snapshot
management process. With centralized policy management and scheduling,
you can define recovery points within any replica. From these recovery
points, you can schedule backups or mount shares to allow end users
to browse and restore.
Ensures Application Data Integrity through Multiple Recovery
Points
It's only useful to replicate your live application data if the
replica is in a state that is understood by the application. With
CDR Recovery Points, you can capture your replica at consistent
points in time, instilling the confidence you need that data recovery
works right the first time, every time.
Keeps Point-in-Time Replicas Consistent with Your Applications:
Windows File System and Exchange, and SQL Databases
CDR's Recovery Point technology ensures point-in-time replicas that
are consistent with your applications. To do this, CDR leverages
QSnap's application-awareness of snapshot technology. Through the
QiNetix CommCell Console, you can schedule or create on-demand Recovery
Points. During the process, the application is quiecsed and all
internal buffers are flushed to disk—and captured by CDR. Once complete,
a consistency point is marked in the replication log and sent to
the target host with the normal replication data stream. On the
target server, the replication log is replayed to the file system.
When the consistency point is encountered, the QSnap software creates
a space-efficient, point-in-time snapshot of replica volume. With
Recovery Points, you can manage multiple point-in-time snapshots
of your critical application data.
Takes the "Remote" Out of Your Remote Office Data
With QiNetix ContinuousDataReplicator, you no longer need to manage
separate data protection operations at remote locations. You can
easily create backup policies for remote office data while setting
up the replication pairs and the associated recovery points. CDR
is fully integrated with Galaxy backup and recovery software to
provide the full compliment of tiered data protection.
Granularly Recovers Data if You Lose It
Your email system just became infected with a virus and you need
to roll back. Your SQL database is corrupted, and Mark from accounting
would love to get back that spreadsheet that he didn't really mean
to delete before going to lunch. With QiNetix ContinuousDataReplicator,
you can breathe easily. Through the CommCell browser, simply view
the available point-in-time replicas and select the Exchange or
SQL database just before the virus struck. As for Mark's spreadsheet,
simply mount the point-in-time replica as a common Internet file
system (CIFS) share and Mark can retrieve the missing file himself.
Delivers Smart Synchronization Replica Management
As long as there have been networks, there have been network disruptions.
In any replication environment, it is difficult to keep the replica
in sync with the primary source during a network outage due to constant
primary production system changes. Typically after a disruption,
replication software products conduct lengthy, resource intensive
file-by-file-to-original comparisons to determine and copy over
the changed files. When a disruption occurs, you need to be able
to quickly bring your replica back online and know that the replica
reflects each and every change that occurred during the disruption.
ContinuousDataReplicator's Smart Synchronization capability maintains
replica integrity throughout a network disruption between source
and target machines. When the network resumes, Smart Synchronization
quickly determines which replication set files were modified during
the outage and need to be sent to the replica. CDR brings your replica
back online and up to date quickly and easily.
Schedules Bandwidth Throttling
It's clear that the need to protect remote office data is imperative.
But often you don't have IT budget for a separate, dedicated network.
You must define your replication infrastructure with this in mind:
balance data protection needs with the available budget to get the
job done.
With ContinuousDataReplicator, you can leverage your existing network
infrastructure by scheduling bandwidth throttling. CDR lets you
match replication needs to bandwidth, letting you scale back during
busy business hours or while critical business functions are occurring.
On the other hand, you can automatically increase replication bandwidth
during evening or overnight hours when resources are underused.
