DataMigrator exploits the copy management features of the CTE. The benefits are two-fold: 1) it allows you to decrease retention costs over time by tiering managed data, and 2) it lets you self-protect your data for business continuity or disaster recovery objectives. Storage policy copies represent data replicas that are managed independently on different media, devices or locations. If your primary copy is unavailable or lost, your users can still retain direct access to any lower online or off-line (i.e., tape) copies within your environment. A stub recall is automatically resolved to a tape copy. This executes a direct single-object restore of the file directly to the stub location; no restaging or backup recovery is required. DataMigrator provides relief for your backup strategy—rather than putting holes in it.
