Overview
Your business cannot afford downtime. That's why CommVault developed
QiNetix QuickRecovery software, unmatched data management and availability
for your data-driven enterprise.
The QiNetix QuickRecovery solution significantly raises availability
of your business-critical applications by leveraging and managing
snapshot technology to create point-in-time Recovery Volumes on
magnetic disks. With QuickRecovery, you can fully recover applications
in minutes. That's not all. You can fine-tune your "up-time"
strategy by protecting your valuable application data from corruption,
user errors or virus hits. Because Recovery Volumes are in native
file format, you can easily select individual files for recovery
to alternate locations.
QuickRecovery software is application-smart—it discovers all volumes
associated with the application. Protect entire applications or
just a critical data set. You'll recover applications in minutes,
not hours.
Unified Management and Administration
With QiNetix QuickRecovery, you use a simple, unified interface
that easily creates, tracks, administers and manages point-in-time
copies of production data for testing, recovery or business continuance
reasons. Via centralized QiNetix policy management and scheduling,
you define point-in-time Recovery Volume retention periods and recover
data when it is needed.
Recover Applications In Minutes: QuickRecovery simplifies point-in-time
application recovery by letting you manage snapshots and data recovery.
Today, keeping applications running 24x7 means you cannot spend
hours on tape-based recovery. And as data grows, so too does the
amount of time needed to recover data from tape.
Snapshot Management
QuickRecovery works in conjunction with a snapshot engine to create
Recovery Volumes. A Recovery Volume is a block-level copy of the
primary disk volume that contains your business-critical application
data. Each Recovery Volume captures the state of a primary volume
at a specific point in time. Multiple point-in-time volumes can
be managed and created with QuickRecovery.
QuickRecovery streamlines snapshot and Recovery Volume creation,
cataloging and retention. So you can have point-in-time copies of
data on disk, easy to recover in case of data loss. With QuickRecovery,
you dramatically simplify the complicated process of application
quiescing and remounting to the recovery copy. Because QuickRecovery
software is hardware independent, you can create Recovery Volumes
on any other disk volume within a SAN or across a LAN connection.
Tight integration with Galaxy Backup & Recovery provides a
single view of snapshots, QuickRecovery Volumes and backup copies—letting
you manage all point-in-time copies as a unified whole.
Multiple Recovery Points
QuickRecovery gives you the ability to create a Recovery Volume
that manages multiple points in time. With QuickRecovery, you can
avoid the shortcomings of mirroring solutions where the corrupted
data gets immediately transferred to the "other" copy.
After the initial (full) snapshot is taken, QuickRecovery tracks
the application activity and which blocks are being modified. At
an interval that you specify, QuickRecovery will create an incremental
snapshot of only the modified blocks. You can schedule multiple
updates and use them to create a Recovery Volume of the primary
volume at any of the available points in time. You can then roll
back to a prior point of corruption and create the desired point-in-time
volume, which can be mounted, shared on a network or copied back
to the primary.
Integration with Key Applications
In addition to QuickRecovery's unique ability to manage the creation
and retention of Recovery Volumes, you can also use QuickRecovery
to coordinate snapshot creation with key applications. This ensures
that the data captured during the snapshot process is internally
consistent with the application and can be properly recognized during
recovery. Applications such as Exchange, SQL and Oracle maintain
application data within memory buffers which, if not flushed during
the snapshot process, may lead to a snapshot image that cannot be
recognized by the application during a recovery. QuickRecovery ensures
this critical information is flushed from memory buffers prior to
the creation of the snapshot.
UNIX, Linux and Windows 2000, 2003 File Systems
With QuickRecovery, you can snap millions of files or entire complex
directory structures in minutes, compared to hours of backup time.
You can restore entire volumes in minutes, as well. Never worry
about open files, ever again.
Exchange Server & SQL Server
Make backup windows disappear. Fully integrated with Exchange services
and SQL databases. Non-disruptive snapshot assisted protection.
Rapidly restore entire applications and data in minutes instead
of hours. Fully integrated with VSS.
Oracle 8i/9i/10g Databases
Eliminate backup windows. Off-load backup from production host via
seamless use of snap technology. Recover Oracle Database in minutes.
