Overview
No robust data protection strategy is complete without snapshots.
By adding snapshots to your classic backup data protection, you can
better protect the application and its data, while keeping them highly
available.
QiNetix RecoveryDirector
amplifies the power of unification. By combining backup and snapshot
management into a single, straightforward workflow, you can easily
manage multiple point-in-time snapshots side by side with your backup
sets. Whether your goal is to improve application availability,
performance or scalability, QiNetix RecoveryDirector lets you to
take your data protection strategy to the next level.
Delivers Unified Management and Administration
QiNetix brings your multilayered data protection strategies under
a single unified console. RecoveryDirector enhances data protection
reliability by automatically sequencing your backup and snapshot
operations. This reduces resource utilization and eliminates duplicate
operations and conflicts for system resources. A single CommCell
browser lets you browse, manage and age off of both snapshots and
backup sets as a single comprehensive data protection strategy.
Expands Your Data Protection Options with Snapshots: RecoveryDirector
unites a comprehensive set of QiNetix snapshot-based data protection
and availability options. These include ProxyHost, Image Level,
Image Level combined with ProxyHost, and QuickRecovery. Choose one
or a combination of these described methods to exceed your protection
and recovery objectives.
Single Workflow
RecoveryDirector ties together all QiNetix snapshot-based data protection
methods into a single, unified workflow. From a single screen, you
can simply select the data to protect—or select the volume or application
to protect. After using RecoveryDirector to select, you can automatically
discover all volumes associated with a specific application. Then
you select the desired snapshot method and the data protection operations
you want to perform on the selected volumes.
Perhaps you need to protect your Exchange environment? Fast recovery
from failure is critical; backup processing cannot hamper Exchange
performance. RecoveryDirector's single workflow allows you to select
Exchange as your desired application to protect. The volumes housing
the exchange database and system information are shown. Your selection
is easy. You create a QuickRecovery volume at selected intervals
and schedule this same snapshot to perform a daily ProxyHost backup.
RecoveryDirector takes care of scheduling all required operations,
eliminating duplicate operations and potential for error.
Application-Consistent Snapshot Management
All QiNetix snapshot-based functions allow you to capture critical
application data in a state that is internally consistent. Applications
such as SQL, Exchange and Oracle maintain state information in buffer
memory during normal processing. As part of the QiNetix snapshot
process, these applications are quiesced and buffers are flushed
to disk. This makes sure that the data captured during a snapshot
can be easily understood by the application during the recovery
process.
Custom Application Support
Do you have a custom business application that requires the same
level of protection? Not a problem with RecoveryDirector. Through
the single workflow interface, the administrator can simply specify
the appropriate commands to quiesce and un-quiesce the custom application
to provide the same application consistency within the snapshot.
Multiple Recovery Points
If you need to recover data to a previous point in time, RecoveryDirector
supports Multiple Recovery Points. Multiple snapshots can be maintained
in case you need to roll back to a previous point in time. Perhaps
an email virus just penetrated your Exchange database, and you weren't
able to detect the virus prior to the last snapshot operation. And,
that's not all: your latest QuickRecovery snapshot is corrupted
as well. No problem for RecoveryDirector. Just select an earlier
snapshot and perform a full volume recovery.
RecoveryDirector simplifies your most advanced data protection
operations and gives you assurance that your application data is
protected as you need it.
