Sony

SDT11000 Series

Features

DDS-4 is the 4th generation of DDS products from Sony.  DDS-4 has all the benefits of previous DDS products, with improved features to increase your storage value. All previous archived DDS data is now even more accessible with read and write backward capability from the SDT-10000 family of tape drives.

Sony has incorporated the Super Air Flow Environment (SAFE) airflow design in the DDS-4 tape drive.  The SAFE design directs external airflow outside the drive and also efficiently vents the tape path area, dramatically improving dust-prevention and cooling.  The SAFE design, in conjunction with Sony's patented Super Head Cleaner, prevents particle accumulation on the heads to minimize read/write errors, ensuring your data will be accessible when you need it.

With 20 GB of native capacity, DDS-4 is the perfect solution for the growing Windows NT and Unix platform requirements.  The transfer speed of DDS-4 has been double from Sony's DDS-3 family of products to 2.4 MB/s, providing a typical back-up rate of 8.64 Gigabytes per hour.  Data flow with Sony's DDS-4 drive is further enhanced with out Look Aside buffer management design.  A total combined buffer memory of 10 MB allows data to stream faster and compress quicker to keep up with your growing storage requirements.
