The third-generation Tandberg 840LTO is designed to help meet
the storage challenges faced by IT organizations today. First,

ENHANCEMENTS IN THIRD-GENERATION
DRIVES
The Tandberg 840LTO introduces new features that can help increase
throughput, capacity and reliability over previous generation
LTO drives while also helping to protect critical data: A new
16-channel head design increases drive performance.
Digital
Speed Matching (DSM)
Is designed to help improve throughput in environments where
the host data rate is less than optimal.
Reduction
of the overall power consumption
From that of previous generation LTO drives. A redesigned head
actuator provides improved read head tracking capability and
performance.
Enhanced power management
Results in reduced heat dissipation and greater operational
efficiency than that of previous generation LTO drives.
LOW COST OF OWNERSHIP
The high performance and capacity of Tandberg 840LTO can help
reduce the number of tape cartridges, tape drives and tape libraries
required in a storage environment. Compatibility with prior
generations of Ultrium media makes it possible for customers
